Week 11

I think using technology in the classroom adds such a level of excitement. I've seen it in the classroom I've been teaching in during practicum the last few weeks. It's pretty funny. Whenever students are told that they will be using a lap top, they all start "oo"ing and "ah"ing. They look around at eachother with big eyes and big smiles. It's a lot of fun to see. I love learning about the different ways we can use technology in the classroom. It makes a difference. The students love it.

Math Lesson Plan

Here is the link to my lesson math plan. I have already implemented it into the classroom. I did this lesson a few weeks ago. Students came and wrote on the promethean board. It worked out pretty well.

Week 10

After watching the videos, one of my favorite things that I learned was the idea of using technology as art projects. It’s an art form I hadn’t ever thought about. Students can have fun experimenting. Technology makes cutting and pasting easy. There are also many ways that make presentations easy and exciting. Students will want to create presentations when they can present their information in video or voice thread.
My other favorite idea was to do a pen pal type thing over the internet. What a neat idea! Sending images, letters, and videos is so easy now…why not take advantage. I liked how they were able to take photos and share them. I love photography and I think using cameras to capture real life is a really good idea.
This videos were very helpful for me. I want to incorporate technology in my classroom by using cameras, pen pals over e-mail or blog, and in art projects.

Week 9

The technology Sunset View Elementary School provides for its classrooms is quite impressive. The 1st grade classroom I am in has 4 Mac computers, a TV with VCR, and a Parmethean board. I am really impressed with it all. During "centers" students are able to get on the computers and do an activity there, so they are always using/around technology. There are also laptops that can be rented out for personal use during class. It's really neat.

I did all of the other assignments. (the survey and permission thing ) :)
